Duration: 1 year initially, renewable for upto 3 years


Role Summary: The Combinatorics group at Ahmedabad University is accepting applications for the position of a Project Assistant to work on a project titled "Enumeration Formulas for Tiling Planar Regions". The Project Assistant would work towards the identification of suitable enumeration formulas related to tiling planar regions. The project is crucial for answering fundamental questions related to this area in enumerative and algebraic combinatorics. The Project Assistant will work with Professor Manjil Saikia under Ahmedabad University's Start-Up Grant (reference no. URBSASI24A5), and his collaborators. Responsibilities



• Perform computer experiments to form conjectures.
• Write research papers for peer review.
• Present the research work at conferences and seminars.
• Assist the Combinatorics group with minor administrative support.



Key Skills



• Proficient coding skills in Maple, or Mathematica, or other languages (e.g., Python).
• Knowledge of basic combinatorial methods.
• Good communication skills in English.



Qualifications



• 4-year BS (Honours) OR Master's degree (MSc) OR Integrated BS-MS degree in Mathematics/Computer Science.
• Candidate must have credited courses on Combinatorics OR Discrete Mathematics OR Number Theory.
