ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT:
The World Food Programme (WFP), operating in India since 1963, aims to provide technical support to strengthening the government\'s food safety-nets programmes in order to improve access to food for millions of vulnerable households throughout the country. Through its Country Strategic Plan (2023-2027), WFP India aims to support India in achieving their targets under Sustainable Development Goals 2 and 17.
WFP India is a partner to the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India (GoI) as well as state governments of Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Uttarakhand in the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the end-to-end computerisation of the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) as well as supply chain optimization.
In line with its global commitment, WFP India\'s current Country Strategic Plan (CSP), 2023-2027, articulates a strong commitment to enhancing livelihoods, gender equality and women\'s empowerment by incorporating gender as a cross-cutting theme across all components of the plan and adopting a gender-transformative approach in its programmes. WFP aims to focus its efforts on promoting policies and interventions that interweave gender, women\'s empowerment, and food security and nutrition at multiple levels.
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide support to policy and progamme activities that effectively implements portfolio of support to the Government\'s work in social protection and public systems by providing technical assistance, innovation and capacity strengthening to the National and State governments to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of government programmes and systems that ensure access to food so that the Government can achieve its targets under SDG 2, by 2030, in line with WFP India\'s Strategic Plan.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):
