As India\'s biggest urban-focused think-and-do tank, we seek thoughtful, enterprise-minded, and sensitive individuals who can help us support this transformation and make a positive difference in citizens\' everyday lives.About your role:WRI India is seeking an experienced researcher with excellent analytical and writing skills and knowledge and interest in urbanization, development and gender equity issues in India, to work on a study on Gender and Mobility in urban India. You will work with a multi-discplinary team spanning WRI India\'s Sustainable Cities and Transport and Research Data and Impact teams (RDI), on the following tasks:How your day will unfold:You will support the Director RDI and project research team with planning, conducting and managing the research project. Under the guidance of the research lead, the work will involve collating, reviewing and analysing literature and data, organizing regular review meetings and collaborating with internal and external partners and experts. As research associate, you will:

  • Systematically review, summarize and draw out insights from relevant literature related to gender relations, mobility, cities and public transport in India and where relevant, globally.
  • Review and analyse, secondary data sources as well as WRI\'s existing primary data related to gender and mobility in Indian cities, and help organize and conduct interviews and FGDs as required.
  • Write and share regular analytic notes related to key emerging themes and findings
  • Assist in writing and revising key documents including research and publication plan, and manuscript drafts, in line with WRI knowledge product standard and guidelines.
  • Support sharing and dissemination of research insights and findings , through project-related seminars/ presentations, research papers, and associated infographics and communications pieces.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the RDI Director/ and Associate/Director, Sustainable Cities and Transport related to gender and mobility research, analysis and policy work.
Qualifications and Requirements we seek:
  • An advanced degree in a relevant social science discipline, such as economics, sociology, development, urban planning or public policy, and 3 + years of relevant experience ( A PhD will count for years of experience).
  • A clear understanding of the research process, methods, and standards, and experience working on interdisciplinary and applied research using mixed methods.
  • Excellent writing, reasoning and communication skills, with an ability to structure and organize research papers and write clearly and succinctly for diverse audiences.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and systematic, with an ability to work independently and manage tight deadlines.
  • Experience writing and publishing peer-reviewed research papers and/or high quality research and evidence-based policy reports
  • Strong computer skills. Experience with referencing, research management, statistical and geo-spatial software is a plus
  • Good interpersonal skills and comfort working with staff at different levels of experience in a diverse and global organization.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and learning-oriented.
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge of urban, as well as gender and development issues in India, and a commitment to sustainable and equitable development.
Salary & Benefits: INR 8,00,000 to 9,00,000
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.Location: Delhi/Bangalore/Mumbai, India
