Over the past seven years, the Indian School of Development Management (ISDM) has garnered validation, support, and funding from esteemed individuals and organizations. While numerous programs worldwide aim to cultivate management capabilities for the social sector, they often reside within larger university ecosystems or business schools, where they may receive lesser attention compared to mainstream programs. ISDM stands out as the sole institution globally dedicated to fostering a comprehensive ecosystem for Development Management, focusing on pioneering work in critical areas. ISDM's initiatives encompass: • Knowledge Creation: Establishing a Global Knowledge Hub to create, disseminate, and institutionalize contextual knowledge on building, leading, and managing social purpose organizations, networks, and platforms.
• Talent Nurturing: Offering the Post Graduate Program in Development Management (PGP-DM) to attract and develop top-tier talent capable of addressing management challenges within the sector.
• Capacity Building: Providing Strategic Capacity Building programs to enhance individual and institutional capacities in development management, thereby fostering sustainable and scalable social impact.
ISDM has successfully completed its Proof of Concept Phase and is now set for expansion over the next five years. Key achievements include high placement rates for PGP-DM graduates and plans for increased batch sizes, a new campus, international partnerships, and accreditation. The institute is also conducting research and establishing Centers of Excellence in various areas of social impact. Strategic Capacity Building (SCB) at ISDM began with a view that while the 1-year PGP is impacting fresh graduates and young professionals, Body of Knowledge is focused on curating and building knowledge, there is a great need to work with the mid and senior management and leadership in the sector today, to be able to evangelise the change we want to see and build the society we envision.
SCB includes programs for middle and senior management in the sector across roles and segments, courses specifically for women leaders, entrepreneurs, senior govt offices, volunteers etc. and can be delivered in a variety of ways comprising bridge programs, short and medium duration courses, online courses and immersions etc. SCB also focuses on consulting and advisory services for driving institutional capacities for sustainable impact.
The role holder will work on a key advisory strategic project with a reputed global foundation. The role holder will also help to expand the SCB consulting and advisory practice. They will undertake a variety of tasks related to the consulting, organizational development strategies and capacity building of different stakeholders from the social impact sector such as Government, Civil Society Networks, Thematic Experts, with the aim of building their institutional and individual capacities. Key Responsibilities • Manage the project execution as per the plan to ensure project deliverables for the Compliance & Governance project are met
• Work with internal and external consultants to manage and support the project deliverables on areas such as results framework, program design, monitoring & evaluations, capacity building of CSOs and partners, knowledge management, documentation and dissemination, advocacy strategy documentation and training etc.
• Lead project management and reporting including (not limited to) funder reporting, internal and external project governance processes, process improvements
• Manage project budgets - budget preparation, management and utilisation for financial reporting
• Monitoring & Control of the project - Monitor project progress against the plan, ensuring timelines and milestones are met and use project management tools and software to track tasks and deliverables
• Ensure that the project deliverables meet the required quality standards
• Partnership & Collaborations to drive the project impact and goals - Evaluate, initiate and close on strategic partnerships to support project goals
• Stakeholder management - Maintain regular communication & engagement with stakeholders, including addressing their expectations, inputs and concerns
Experience and Qualification Required • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field. Additional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Six Sigma are a plus
• The candidate should preferably have 7-10 years of work experience, with at least 5 years of experience in core domain of consulting, designing and managing programs for capacity building
• Significant experience in management consulting or related roles, working with diverse clients and industries.
• Experience in leading and managing projects, conducting research and analysis, and developing strategic plans.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to analyze complex business challenges, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.
• Consulting skills: Demonstrated ability to assess client needs, develop and implement effective HR strategies, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Communication and presentation skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts to clients and stakeholders at various levels.
• Business acumen: A solid understanding of business principles, market dynamics, and industry trends. Ability to quickly grasp the client's business context and provide relevant insights and recommendations.
• Project management skills: Proficient in project management methodologies and tools, with the ability to plan, execute, and monitor projects effectively within defined timelines and budgets.
• Collaboration and teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with client teams, stakeholders, and colleagues, fostering strong relationships and driving consensus to achieve project objectives. A collaborative and client-focused mindset is essential.
• Adaptability and flexibility: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic consulting environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing client needs and project requirements.
• Ethical conduct: Maintain high professional ethics, integrity, and confidentiality in handling client information and sensitive data.
• Travel availability: Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
