Job summary
The SMB empowerment team of Amazon India is looking for an entrepreneurial, hands-on, detail oriented, innovative and highly motivated Program Manager to help drive new initiatives in the SMB enablement and marketing innovations space. We are looking for someone who is passionate about driving innovative solutions and empowering small businesses. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is energized by a fast-paced and highly entrepreneurial environment. Ability to problem solve in high ambiguity, creating a long term vision & roadmap, and delivering results will set this person apart. The candidate will possess strong analytical and financial acumen, great negotiation skills, high degree of ownership and integrity, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate should have the ability to drive consensus across multiple stakeholders in a highly matrixed organization.

The candidate will need to work backwards from latent and stated seller needs to identify opportunities of creating and supporting sustainable programs that will drive i) discoverability & customer preference for products from small businesses, ii) growth, engagement and empowerment of small businesses across different cohorts such as start-ups, emerging brands, neighbourhood stores, and under-represented minorities like women entrepreneurs, rural artisans and weavers, iii) disruptive, industry-first initiatives that can create a needle-moving impact on small businesses, while adding to the brand salience and corporate reputation of Amazon India. The candidate should be comfortable with working in an environment with minimal supervision, and across multiple complex functions and capabilities to influence external stakeholders. Operating in a rapidly changing environment will require the candidate to be adept at dealing with ambiguous, new and challenging situations. The candidate will be comfortable in analyzing data, gathering actionable conclusions and delivering stretch results in a fast-paced environment.

Key job responsibilities

  • Developing a thorough understanding of the SMB space, seller & customer behavior, and global & national trends/events
  • Based on data, working to develop & launch new initiatives in partnership with leading players in the SMB enablement space and several internal stakeholders
  • Managing awareness and adoption of these initiatives while delivering a top notch customer experience
  • Identifying and developing capabilities to scale this space and our offerings of SMB enablement
  • Tracking and monitoring performance of the new initiatives, and marketing campaigns, synthesizing, analyzing and report program metrics and driving data driven decisions as required.
  • Contributing to the identification of new opportunities to influence the seller lifecycle to derive innovative potential.
  • Learning and being curious and staying on top of key trends and best practices in the SMB enablement space to develop winning strategies.
  • Evolving own skill set with changing requirements for programmatic launch.
This position is based out of Bangalore, India.

About the team
The SMB empowerment team is responsible for strengthening our position as 'Good for Small Businesses' through industry-first SMB enablement initiatives, driving success for small businesses by increasing their discoverability & visibility (including named programs like Saheli, Karigar, Launchpad & Local shops) and amplify our messaging externally in close partnership with PR, PP and XCM/ seller marketing. We work on targeted programs and strategic partnerships that enable small businesses across various lifecycle needs like education, mentorship and insurance and on CX improvements, product & merchandising interventions that make shopping from small businesses a natural part of the day-to-day customer purchase funnel.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years experience in program or project management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MBA in marketing, strategy or a related field
  • 2+ years experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
  • Relevant work experience in new product/program development/ strategy development/ project management in e-commerce industry
  • Experience launching nascent (embryonic/start-up) products/services into new markets is desired
  • Strong quantitative data analysis and critical thinking skills. Experience using metrics to drive business decisions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling positioning/messaging strategy and present complex information clearly and concisely.
