Roles and Responsibilities
Job OverviewInitiate and set goals for various programs in accordance with the DoPs strategic objectives. Supervises managers and informs management on the performance and progress of DoPs ongoing programs. As a member of the senior management team, the program director participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives in addition to problem solving.
Responsibilities and DutiesAssume overall responsibility for leadership, vision, direction, and daily supervision of one or more program(s) designed.Effective delegation and instruction to team members/architects/managers. This includes setting and communicating goals and overseeing work performed by team members to ensure a quality product.Oversee day-to-operations to ensure the program follows licensing regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards.Planning the program throughout the life from conceptualization to completion including processes, milestones, and deadlines.Devising evaluation strategies for monitoring performance and for determining the improvement needs.Responsible for keeping the DoP team informed of the status of the program using accurate and detailed reports/presentations.Responsible for reviewing detailed reports on the program from the
various teams handling various tracks.Establishing a mechanism to ensure regular dialogue with 3rd party vendors/subcontractors to promote problem solving, team working and risk sharing.Determining new projects, programs, and initiatives for DoP and sharing the same with them for review and discussion.Develop and maintain professional program policies and procedures manual as well as provider training materials and attendee handout packages.Analyze trends in the program, identifying issues and developing and recommending solutions to the DoP team.Responsible for the implementation, management, supervision, and evaluation of all activities in accordance with the standards set by DoP.Oversee the development and revision of program curriculums and maintain program planning and execution documents in formats that assure consistent execution.Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies.Responsible for preparing the program brief, project initiation documents or equivalent and business case among other documents.
Educational QualificationsBachelors degree in information technology, software engineering, computer science, or related field.Masters degree in computer science/engineering/Business Administration.
CertificationPMP/Prince 2Program Management Professional (PgMP)
Industry knowledgeAssessing the risk to the program beforehand and applying appropriate alternative solutions.Proficient at using technology in project management processes.
A firm understanding of the sector in which the organization operates, in this case the public sector.
Work Experience15 years of Program/Project Managing work experience.Experience as a program director for a medium to large-sized business.Being aware of the broader perspective and how it affects the program.Experience of providing primary strategic and supervisory support for multiple client accounts.Proficient at using technology in project management processes.Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.Outstanding knowledge of data analysis, reporting and budgeting.Working with customer to establish a program planMust have implemented at least one large project involving products, data center, server, storage, network in a government environmentSound knowledge of all program/project management proceduresExperience with program management software such as MS Project and BasecampExtensive experience with MS Office, especially MS ExcelApplication designRequirement AnalysisSoftware managementData CenterServer, Storage, Network
