Job description



The Data Compliance and Protection Unit in a hospital setting is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to healthcare regulations, legal standards, and in-house policies for all research projects working with patient data.



A key part of the role involves liaising with clinical researchers, including doctors, students, and healthcare professionals, to assist them with data compliance and protection tasks.



Key Responsibilities



Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement the hospital's data protection policies and procedures for research projects working with patient data.



Ensure policy is aligned with GDPR, HIPAA, and other relevant data protection laws.



Support Clinical Researchers: Work closely with doctors, students, and healthcare professionals engaged in clinical research to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy laws. Provide guidance on best practices for data collection, storage, and sharing in clinical research projects.



Assist clinical researchers in preparing and submitting required documentation for data compliance.



Review research protocols to ensure data protection measures are in place.



Monitor Research Projects working with Patient Data: Monitor research data management procedures and compliance within the hospital.



Ensure all data processing operations are legally compliant.



Conduct internal audits and reviews to ensure compliance procedures are followed.



Training and Awareness: Provide training and support to researchers on data protection policies and procedures.



Regulatory Support: Act as the main point of contact within the hospital for data protection matters. Liaise with regulatory authorities on issues related to data processing.
