Working Title: Program Associate- Anti-Microbial Resistance (Third Party Payroll, Randstad) Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan Duration: 6 months (Till Oct 2023) (On Third party payroll) Reports to: Public Health Specialist- Surveillance

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is increasingly being recognized as a major public health problem in India. The country adopted a United Nations political declaration on 21st September 2016 which calls for a collaborative global response to the threat of antimicrobial resistance. The Government of India also promulgated the National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance. Six strategic priorities have been identified under the NAP-AMR: (i) improving awareness and understanding of AMR through effective communication, education and training; (ii) strengthening knowledge and evidence through surveillance; (iii) reducing the incidence of infection through effective infection prevention and control; (iv) optimizing the use of antimicrobial agents in health, animals and food; (v) promoting investments for AMR activities, research and innovations; and (vi) strengthening India\xe2\x80\x99s leadership on AMR.
PATH through this proposal envisages supporting the state of Rajasthan for combatting AMR, strengthening the multisectoral approach for One Health and helping strengthen disease surveillance mechanisms through effective TA to the state.

Responsibilities:

Essential skills and experience

• Provide quality technical assistance to the State government in development of State Action Plan for Containment of Anti-Microbial Resistance.
• Work with the State Nodal Officer to anchor the state\xe2\x80\x99s efforts for the implementation of AMR and One Health related activities in the state.
• Work closely with Health Systems Strengthening team at PATH and state government counterparts to develop, implement, monitor state specific project activities including development of roadmaps, work-plans, activities, reports etc.
• Develop training modules, design training plan for the state and lead the required training of stakeholders - both program managers and service delivery staff in the state for strengthening AMR surveillance and Anti-Microbial Stewardship in the state.
• Develop and write technical documents, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidelines and research material on combatting AMR.
• Conduct trainings to strengthen AMR surveillance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the State Nodal Officer or the supervisor from time to time, for the smooth functioning of the project and for the achievement of project/ organizational goals.

Functional Competencies:

• Familiarity with stakeholders in the space of AMR and one health.
• Good knowledge and understanding of the technical as well as programmatic aspects of AMR
• Ability to work with a team of professionals from diverse backgrounds and working with government and non-government.
• Willing to travel to districts and blocks to conduct an assessment, oversee the project updates, provide training on SOPs,
• Familiarity with the functioning of state and national government agencies and non- government organizations
• Experience in working in coordination with multiple partners in public health program implementation on the
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• IT literacy, familiarity with re-presentation techniques, and ability to operate with online web- based.

• PhD Microbiologist/ any medical graduates with post-graduation in Master of Public Health
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in similar activities at state or district level
• A thorough understanding of surveillance, AMR, and One Health is essential.
• Prior experience of working with national/ state agencies such as ICMR, NCDC, IDSP or technical partners like WHO, CDC, FIND will be an added advantage.
• Prior experience of working in the space of disease surveillance, AMR or One Health will be an added advantage.

Travel: The position requires us to undertake frequent visits to the target district to ensure timely completion of project activities in the state.

Must have legal authorization to work in India.
