Role Description

You will be joining the Production Management team. We work alongside front office business users to address their queries and ensure the software systems they use are running correctly. We work closely with development and other technology teams to maintain and improve stability in the Fixed Income applications (FX, Rates, Credit, Derivatives and Collateral / Valuations) used by traders and Middle Office and Back Office users. We ensure that the teams have the tools and training to be self-sufficient in improving production stability.

Your Key Responsibilities:

This is essentially a Front Office application support lead role, moving into more of the DevOps domain.

Were looking for a Technology / Engineering Graduate candidate with 10 - 14 years of experience in the financial industry, preferably Investment Banking Fixed Income or Equity domain.

Must be familiar with UNIX, SQL, Python Scripting, and Monitoring tools such as Geneos

Someone with good analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills, excellent verbal / written comms skills, ability to work under pressure and lead effort with others to restore service to the traders and other users,

Ability to lead incidents independently as well as working together in a local team and wider regional team

Capability to flick between break/fix, and proactive tasks & projects
  • Enhance and oversee Geneos monitoring to improve the monitoring of production processes
  • Build python scripts for application tooling and Geneos monitoring
  • Working with the development team to automate manual support processes
  • Provide strong incident management leadership during outages to improve recovery time
  • Lead the analysis of incidents to identify underlying trends and focus areas and present them to management and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the design and development of standard process to eliminate pain points, issues and root causes of current Production Management processes.
  • Facilitate industry-standard Root Cause Analysis (RCA) exercises because of critical incidents and initiating the Problem Management cycle
  • Interact directly with senior IT leaders, managers and key stakeholders to proactively communicate status on active major incidents or problem tickets
  • Confidence to push back and say No when expectations are not aligned with the correct/agreed/sold solution
  • Monitor Production Management processes e.g., Incident Management, escalation procedures, and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed
  • Provide ad hoc reports to the business where this will add value or reduce costs.
Your Skills and Experience
  • Educated to bachelors degree level or equivalent qualification / relevant work experience
  • 10 - 14 years of experience in Production / Application Support
  • Excellent ability to troubleshoot all manner of IT related issues and use your initiative when unsure.
  • Experience in ITIL Incident Management and Problem Management processes
  • Good understanding of Solaris/Linux, with the ability to write shell scripts in bash/ ksh.
  • Oracle, or other RDBMS experience with the ability to write complex SQL queries and guide tram members
  • Knowledge of deploying and managing applications in Application Hosting Environments
  • Experience in Geneos monitoring setup, Geneos provides monitoring and system management of critical real-time applications
  • Understanding of Investment Bank Fixed Income or Equity business and the trade life cycle
  • Strong communicator, able to describe complex technical issues to business users, both verbally and written.
  • Knowledge of python or shell scripting and debugging
