About the role
The SAP ABAP Subject Matter Expert role is part of the ERP Platforms Management Organization within the Digital & Tech Function in Haleon.
The Manager- ABAP SME will drive the creation and adoption of SAP ABAP Coding standards and work with our IT Partners to lead them in the delivery and support of ABAP development related activities across the ERP landscape.
The Manager shall lead a team of specialists to oversee operational support processes and direct on analysis of functional requirements, preparation of solution designs and delivery of large scale SAP enhancements and developments through to technical implementation.
The Manager develops and enforces technical standards for ABAP designs, configurations and implementations, ensuring compliance with Haleon Procedures and Policies as well as audit and validation requirements. The role is responsible for delivering high quality support services to business customers and maintaining currency, resiliency and performance of SAP applications. This includes working directly with 3rd party vendors for specific products, or SaaS Services.
They will need technical expertise in the areas specific to the product domain they are working. They will also be accountable for technical artefacts such as systems requirements, solutions design and security & privacy reviews along with testing of solutions including Disaster Recovery Plans.
Expertise in scope:• Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in SAP ABAP technologies
• Strong on Fiori, Workflow, Enterprise Portal, SAP OAUTH, WebDynPro
• Proficiency in areas like Data Dictionary and Performance Tuning
• Should have hands on experience and fair understanding of FICO/ SD/ MM/ HR functional processes
• Managed a Service Delivery team following ITIL principles and vendor management capabilities
• Project Management and Technical Leadership experience in Medium and Large SAP Programmes
• Expertise in Reviewing Technical Specification Design.
• Manage Partner ABAP teams in adherence to our standards.
• Understanding of ITIL processes for service management
• Strong communication skills with peers and at varying levels of Management and Business Stakeholders
• Strong Team Leadership Skills
• Good to have SAP Certifications
Role Responsibilities• Technical Configuration/Customization: Work with third party solutions providers, developers and Haleon Core Technology/Platforms to conduct technical configuration/customization of solutions that meet our customers needs and provides a great user experience
• Data Protection: Develop a sound knowledge of Haleon policies and processes regarding protection of sensitive data
• Governance & Product Assessment: Take part in technical governance and oversight of product development across a product domain. Interact, communicate & indirectly get the work done from various team members in Integration, TechOps, Finance Product Owners, Manufacturing Product Owners, Security, Compliance & Audit teams.
• Product Domain: Understand the product domains from a technology perspective but also understand how the technology adds value
• Quality, Risk & Compliance: Accountable for ensuring all products supporting the business are compliant with internal security, risk management policies and practices, external regulatory and statutory requirements e.g. GxP, SOX and that Technical continuity plans are in place and tested in line with Haleon policies for all business-critical products
• Change & Release management: Manage change activity, including SaaS delivered changes, into the Production service in a compliant and efficient manner
• Process Improvement: Drive ongoing product and technical improvements, including automation opportunities, adopting a mixture of delivery methodologies where appropriate - but focusing on Value to the customers.
• Technical Product Deliverables: Ensuring completion and currency of technical deliverables as outlined by Product Owner and ensuring technical aspects of all documentation are appropriately covered while liasoning with the functional product owners.
• Operational Support: Work on L2, L3 support tickets as required and escalations providing resolution to break-fix issues, and deployment of operational changes. Act as point of expertise and escalation to 3rd party vendor support teams. Own the Problem Management function, driving the 100% target for understanding and eradicating root cause of all issues. Demonstrate an ability to resolve complex issues. Manage user relationships with customers and peers. Proactively seek ways to operate more efficiently as a support service and reduce the volume of support work, identifying opportunities and proposing improvements.
Basic Qualifications:• Technical Degree eg. Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science with minimum 8 years relevant (e.g. Consumer Goods/Healthcare, Pharma regulated) experience in major global Tech organization
• Track record in successful technical support, development, programme and product delivery
• Experience in a business critical Technical Service delivery role
• Experience of working with third parties in the delivery of working products
• Excellent relationship management, strong communication skills
• Deep content knowledge of respective functional area (business operating models, processes & products)
