The team you will be a part of
The Product Design team designs, validates and brings new products to market.; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety. Collaborates with internal partners to optimize designs for manufacturability. Uses CAD/CAE systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
This role in summary
Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Industrial Designer opening to join our Whirlpool Global Consumer Design organization. Applicants should include portfolio documents or link to design samples for review as a portfolio highlighting multiple projects and your direct contributions will be needed to be considered for the role.
Your responsibilities will include
Conceptualize and develop new products with detailed attention to integrating multiple user and manufacturing requirements into compelling designs.
Create aspects of physical and psychological interfaces between users and products and with system compatibility where required.
Demonstrate leadership in order to influence others regarding alignment on final design approaches.
Develop accurate, comprehensive, and convincing verbal and written presentations.
Effectively work with the design team and follow senior designers plans.
Model Whirlpool core values of respect, integrity, inclusion, and teamwork.
Minimum requirements
Bachelors degree in Industrial Design
2+ years of design experience in a corporate or consultant environment
Preferred skills and experiences
3D Computer modeling skills (Solid Works, Rhino, Creo)
Superior project management and planning skills
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate communication across different disciplines and regions.
Excellent decision making abilities and self-motivation relative to objectives.
Adaptability and flexibility to accept change in order to create meaningful design according to business dynamics and processes improvements over time.
Strong abilities in sketching, idealization, and conceptualization
Technical skills aimed to increase team understanding and action: Crafting concept mock-ups, video, Photoshop, Illustrator, Keyshot, and slide presentations.
