We work to raise privacy awareness, drive compliance with both internal privacy policies and regulatory expectations across the organization and establish privacy as a strategic differentiator for the American Express brand.As a second line of defense function, Global Privacy oversee, provide expertise in, and challenge the identification, management, and mitigation of privacy risks across the company in line with the privacy framework and the company\xe2\x80\x99s vision to provide the world\xe2\x80\x99s best customer experience every day.This position is based in Gurgaon, India and reports to the Director, Global Privacy Program.How will you make an impact in this role?Core Responsibilities include:The Manager of Privacy Policy Governance is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive privacy policies, standards, and guidelines and coordinating the governance, approval, and exception process.Key Responsibilities:1. Document Development:

  • Develop and update privacy policies, standards, and guidelines in alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and American Express Data Protection and Privacy Principles.
  • Collaborate with key partners, including legal counsel, privacy experts, compliance officers and business partners, to gather input and feedback on document development.
2. Governance and Approval Process:
  • Establish a structured governance framework to coordinate the development, review, approval, and dissemination of privacy policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for individuals involved in the development process, including subject matter experts, document owners, and approvers.
  • Implement a formalized process for review and revision, ensuring periodic updates to reflect changes in laws, regulations, and organizational needs.
3. Exception Governance:
  • Develop guidelines for requesting, reviewing, and approving exceptions.
  • Review exception requests for adherence to established guidelines and evaluate the exception impact to the company.
  • Develop and maintain exception database for tracking and reporting purposes.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in policy development, privacy, compliance, or related roles, preferably in a regulated industry or environment.
  • Working knowledge of privacy or compliance laws and regulations.
  • Understanding of policy development processes and governance structures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex requirements and translate them into practical policies and procedures.
  • Meticulous with a focus on accuracy and quality in policy drafting and documentation.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence individuals at all levels of the organization.
Additional/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent experience in business, law, or a related field.
  • Certification in privacy, compliance, risk management or related field, a plus.
