Family Description

Applied R&D (AR) consists of target-oriented research either with the goal of solving a particular problem / answering a specific question or for multi-discipline design, development, and implementation of hardware, software, and systems including maintenance support. Supplies techno-economic consulting to clients. AR work is characterised by its detailed and complex nature in order to systematically combine existing knowledge and practices to further developing and incrementally improving products, operational processes, and customer-specific feature development.

Subfamily Description

Software (SWA) comprises the definition, specification, and allocation of requirements from different sources utilising knowledge of systems engineering processes (specification & architecture). Contains processing of use case and feature requirements into conceptual models, operational scenarios, technical requirements, and functional description. Covers specification, design, implementation, and unit testing of Software (e.g. device drivers, microcode, hardware-related software & firmware) according to the requirements and architecture defined in the systems engineering process. Covers establishment and maintenance of Software Configuration Management (SCM) practices into software development projects, continuously building and integrating infrastructure tools and systems.

• Follow the evolution of public cloud services of Amazon, Microsoft, Google and understand limitations and differences relevant for Altiplano
• Define standard deployment configurations for Altiplano (blueprints), input to automated regression testing
• Assist in debugging concrete customer deployment problems with Altiplano (inc environment like load balancer) Devise strategies to optimize Altiplano cloud deployment footprint & resource utilization

Skill Set: Essential: Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or related areas
10+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of architecting software/IT/telecom solutions

• Cloud / Virtualization (at least two): AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OpenStack, OpenShift, VMware vSphere / Tanzu, Canonical
• Cloud Certifications (one or more) : Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• Have in-depth knowledge of cloud storage solutions on top of AWS, GCP, Azure and/or on-perm private cloud, such as Ceph, CephFS, GlusterFS
• Have good experience Application Load balancer, Network Load balancer, network security groups and caching related technologies.
• Hands on Experience with CNI, CRDs, Kubernetes operators, Kubernetes storage
• Understands \xc2\xb5S based architecture, cloud native architecture principles Has practical experience with and knowledge of \xc2\xb5S based architectures and deployment of these applications in public cloud environments

Experience in taking high level product needs and coming up with detailed specifications including determining feasibility and describing the behavior of features for the products,
Proven results in defining , architectures, design and bringing those solutions to the market
Strong motivational and technical leadership skills to work with the R & D team towards the realization of the architecture and Ability to quickly prototype and validate design approaches
Experience in successfully working with global organizations with strong communication ability.
Ability to drive innovation and collaborations with customers
Desired: Prior Experience in Network Management Solutions and Access Technologies
Strong knowedge of wireline telecom and networking domains
Continuous Integration, Test Automation, Micro-Services, Xaas models
Expertise in relevant technologies including Java/J2EE, Linux, DBMS, Web Technologies, Cloud & Virtualization, Kubernetes, Containerization, SDN

Knowledge & Experience
