The Azure Developer Experience team at Microsoft India Development Center (IDC) is staffing a team of talented engineers and product managers to help us build and ship Azure services targeted to developers building applications and services in Azure. Our team mission is to make Azure the best cloud for all developers. Working with the OSS community and partner ISVs we will deliver services that expand access to open source and 3rd party technologies in the Azure cloud. We also work on some of the largest global-scale PaaS services offered by Azure for developers building or migrating apps and workloads to the cloud, e.g., Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Load Testing, etc.We are hiring seasoned Engineering Managers to lead new projects related to Azure services in the above areas. As a Principal Engineering Manager, you will provide technical and people leadership for a talented team of engineers. You will have end-to-end ownership for a customer-facing service, end-to-end feature areas for a large service, or a significant platform area that drives efficiencies across multiple services.If the above sounds challenging and exciting, wed love to talk to you.Responsibilities:

• Lead, hire, and grow a diverse world-class team of software engineers

• Lead delivery for a world class Azure service or a platform sub-system working with engineers and peer teams.

• Partner with product management, industry partners, customers, and other stakeholders to define requirements, scope projects and ship products in rapid, iterative cycles

• Stay up to date on industry trends around cloud native technologies, open source development and dev ops processes, mentoring team on innovation, modern design and service engineering.

• Support customers and live site in a dev ops model

• Build for security, privacy, scale, reliability and compliance

• Lead others by exemplifying growth mindset, inclusiveness, teamwork, and customer obsession

• Mentor, coach and grow engineers

Qualifications:Required:

• BA/BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent field

• 10+ years of industry experience building and shipping software using modern programming languages such as C#, C++, Java, Go or Python

• Track record of delivering engineering projects across multiple ship cycles

• At least 4 years of experience in people management

• Demonstrated history of leading successful engineering teams that work well together

• Strong technical and problem-solving skills

• Customer obsession and passion for shipping high quality products

• Excellent planning, execution, and communication skills

Preferred:

• Experience working in a Linux environment and/or with open source projects

• Experience building and shipping a large-scale cloud service is a big plus

• Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Azure, AWS or GCP

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and DevOps tools and processes

• Experience in site-reliability engineering practices and supporting scalable live site services

• Experience working with cross-functional teams across geographies

• Experience growing senior engineers
