Position: Principal Software Architect - Mobile Apps, Digital Business Purpose: We are looking for a Principal Software Architect to join our team and play a pivotal role in building and scaling the application experience of SonyLIV. You will be responsible for designing and driving the technical direction for a high-performance, user-friendly, and scalable frontend experience that can handle large-scale events. Education: B.E./B.Tech, MCA or Equivalent Computer Degree Location: Bengaluru Reporting Relationship: Head - Engineering (Centre of Excellence), Digital Business Business/Channel/Function: Digital Experience: • 15+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on frontend architecture across mobile (Android, iOS) and web (HTML5) technologies.
• Expert knowledge of Android, iOS, and HTML5 development, including best practices for performance optimization and cross-platform compatibility.
• Strong understanding of video player technologies and streaming protocols.
• Experience in designing and developing intuitive, engaging user interfaces for mobile and web applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and mentor engineering teams.
• Experience in the media and entertainment industry.
• Strong understanding of content delivery networks (CDNs), ad ecosystem (both SSAI and CSAI) and adaptive bitrate streaming.

Roles & Responsibility • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the development and maintenance of the SonyLIV architecture.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams in adopting best practices for design, development, and deployment.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering organization.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive high-level designs (HLDs) for new features, components, and services.
• Create and maintain clear and concise architectural documentation.
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools to meet the platform's evolving needs.
• Ensure alignment between architecture design, business requirements, and technical constraints.
• Define and implement strategies for achieving optimal performance, scalability, and reliability for the platform.
• Identify and address potential bottlenecks, performance issues, and architectural limitations.
• Proactively monitor and analyze system performance to identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define and refine technical requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions to ensure adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
• Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and best practices.
