Job Summary : The infrastructure team is hiring a Principal Engineering Manager to enable Disney+ hotstar to consistently achieve new milestones of scale optimally and efficiently in the next phase of our journey. About the team The Infrastructure Engineering team builds platforms that empower engineering teams at Hotstar. We operate compute clusters and ingress technologies across several geographies with stringent capacity, reliability, cost and uptime requirements. We also power the solution that scales the infrastructure during significant events like Cricket World Cup and provides the guaranteed performance of workloads. We set the standard for how infrastructure is managed through code and at the same time build tools and abstractions that help the development teams stay focused on providing a great user experience for our customers. We also work with the other internal technology teams like the Data Platform to build platforms and tools that churn through, process & analyze petabytes of data and work on varied technologies (such as: Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Flink, Druid, Databricks and such) to build a scalable infrastructure that delivers insights to our internal users in real-time in a cost effective manner. Key Responsibilities Drive the overall infrastructure strategy and influence all internal platform strategy including the Data Platform strategy for Hotstar Lead the evaluation of relevant technologies, influence and drive architecture and design discussions Be responsible for infrastructure management and evolution across the organization including setting the bar for production-grade standards and costing Set the standard for Infra code organization and design with an eye towards extensibility and future readiness Set the hardware and performance benchmarks to provide a robust and performant platform Lead a high-performing team of devops, data engineers and provide them oversight, technical guidance, and mentorship Drive development of data infrastructure that fuels the needs of multiple teams, systems and products collaborating with SDEML engineers and business analysts, Collaborate with business/product stakeholders to understand and enable their infra, data and analytics needs Skills & Attributes for Success Led a sizeable team ( 25 members) in the past Expertise with programming using a high-level language - including design principles and writing idiomatic code Experience with Infrastructure Platform Principles and solutioning using automation and working with technologies/applications like Kubernetes, Terraform, GoCD Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, specifically with managing multiple accounts and geographies Experience with Networking and Linux - including protocols, sniffing and network design Nice to bring to the table some relevant data platform experience Experience building data infrastructure, BI systems Experience in either Go or Java Experience in Apache Spark, Hadoop, Flink Understanding of database and storage fundamentals Ability to create data-flow design and write SQL / Spark based transformations Experience working on real time streaming data pipelines using Spark Streaming or Flink Preferred Education & Experience BE/B.Tech/BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field (ideal) with at least 15 years of strongly relevant experience About Us Why Join us The glory.
