Job Description

The Principal Engineer will be responsible for leading product development efforts in the medical devices industry. The position involves strategic planning, need assessment, design generation to commercialization, within the R&D department.

• Lead and support Product & Medical Device Development Programs, from early user needs assessment to design input generation, and finally to commercialization.
• Hands-on performance testing to determine device improvements required to meet specifications.
• Work effectively across functions and groups; build teams effectively and instill a global mindset within the team.
• Support intellectual property strategy by IP assessment, development, and patent filings.
• Lead the coordination, prioritization, and management of resources across device projects, and manage and optimize links & risks between programs.
• Proactively identifies potential project risks and recommends implementation plans for associated mitigation strategies.
• Prepare project status reports, tracks project budgets, and communicates project status (incl. scope changes & implications) within the project team, across stakeholders and with Senior Management.
• Proactively respond to problems and resolve issues by proposing and presenting alternative technology and regulatory approaches and strategies; escalates issues as appropriate.
• Ensure product compliance with appropriate regulations and/or standards.
• Follow Product Development Process, including writing of all required documents to ensure compliance with design control.

*Minimum 10-15 years\' relevant experience.
*Experience with multiple aspects of device development, including technical, regulatory, and project management required.
*Proficiency in intellectual property generation and protection.
*Must have the ability to interact with all levels of management and lead discussions without line authority to create alignment of senior cross-functional stakeholders.
