As a Principal/Senior Lighting and Electrical Engineer working with Mott MacDonald, with the opportunity to help manage a team of lighting and electrical engineers. This role offers the opportunity to develop and grow your career and work on a range of projects both in the UK and internationally, varying in size and complexity across both the public and private sectors. It provides greater responsibility to work autonomously on your projects and as part of a larger team. Projects cover the entire lifecycle from feasibility through concept and into the design and construction stages. You will work closely with other team members, supporting the team leader/ project manager to maintain the culture of optimised delivery and high performance you will also lead project teams or elements through all project phases. As well as this, you will also undertake a discipline lead role whilst working alongside less experienced team members, using your experience to mentor and develop engineers, apprentices/technicians. The role will be varied, demanding, and challenging but will provide an opportunity to develop your career within Mott MacDonald. Key elements to successfully fulfil the role of Principal/Senior Lighting and Electrical Engineer are: Technical Excellence Design of new and replacement residential and area street lighting schemes to BS5489-1:2020. Design and verification of low voltage (LV) private cable networks. Production of contractual documentation (incl. specification and bills of quantities/schedule of rates) Demonstrating sound technical checking and approval of design and report-based deliverables. Successful Project Delivery Able to multitask and plan for successful outcomes in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment. Production of design drawings and schematics using various software in the BIM environment. Demonstrate strong knowledge of and adapt to lighting and electrical technology changes, design techniques and H&S legislation to ensure that all works are carried out to current best practices and criteria. Apply the Mott MacDonald procedures, including taking responsibility for Health and Safety as well as compliance with CDM Regulations 2015. Lead in achieving client satisfaction, trusted partner relationships and securing repeat work. Teamwork Assist senior international team members when they carry out visual site inspections and surveys. You will support the UK team leader/project manager in maintaining a collaborative and inclusive culture. Demonstrate a proactive approach to project work and technical challenges. Undertake any other duties consistent with the basic objectives and responsibilities of the post. Candidate Specification As a successful Highways & Infrastructure Lighting professional, the ideal candidate will: Have a minimum of 5 years of experience with an in-depth knowledge of lighting, electrical design and environmental lighting guidance with sound engineering principles. Demonstrate experience in working on multi-discipline designs. Hold an in-depth understanding of design standards and guidance, including BS 5489 /BS EN 124 BS7671 / DMRB / ILP technical and guidance notes. Be knowledgeable and experienced in using design tools, e.g. AutoCAD, Lighting Reality, AGI32, DIALux 4.13, DIALux Evo, Civil 3D and Trimble ProDesign. Be experienced in utilising BIM to coordinate design inputs within the 3D modelling environment (i.e., Navisworks, BIM360) Be experienced in preparing detailed design and construction drawings, standard details and technical specifications. Be experienced working in Highway lighting design, electrical design and incorporating environmental and safety requirements. Demonstrate a robust technical focus and methodical style of working. Be a confident communicator with excellent technical, interpersonal, organisational and analytical skills. Be capable of working to deadlines as part of a team and autonomously when required. Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail at all times. Have the ability to problem solve, make rational judgments and evaluate the evidence available.
