The Principal Embedded Systems Engineer is 75% technical and 25% People Management. They will develop, plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee Firmware and Software engineering activities supporting new product development, production launch, and product innovation. This role leads practices and objectives for productivity standards and goal attainment. Success is measured by efficiently implementing and delivering cost-effective solutions. Responsibilities: Attract, coach, and retain Engineering talent. Create high performance team. Implement the strategic design, management, and implementation of the company s mobility and energy storage products and technologies. Establish Firmware / Software best practice within the team. Supervise all direct reports for overseeing the daily engineering workflow and staffing needs. Contribute to develop and maintain schedule of all project s deliverables. Establish, communicate, and implement engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations. Ensure product compliance with safety level SIL-2 and ASIL-C Lead the architect to comply with the security requirements. Guide the team to successfully integrate Protocols such as UDS, J1939, J1850, OBD etc.,) in Product. Target high amount of re-use across platforms. Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development related to the battery industry. Define system requirements, develop unit tests and software/hardware integration. Represent the business unit at conferences, sister divisions and work with our partners. Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures. Adhere to federal and state regulations. Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. Predictable and reliable attendance. Qualifications: Bachelor s degree in electrical / Embedded Software Engineering. Master s degree in electrical / Embedded Software Engineering preferred. Minimum of ten (10) years experience in Embedded Field. Minimum of three (3) years in technical Lead role in Firmware / Software. Experience with ARM M7 (Automotive), Linux, Wireless AFE, CAN-FD, RS-485, Modbus, SPI, Power Controls, Hardware in Loop, Python, C systems, OTA (Over the Air Firmware update), AutoSAR, J1939, Free RTOS, Java. Track record of incremental Technical and non-technical responsibilities and accomplishments is preferred. Hands-on experience in various Battery chemistry and the supporting technology to manage it is preferred. Experience in large-scale energy storage would be a plus. Developing communication interface with large set of batteries using CAN Bus. Experience in the Auto Industry (AutoSAR or similar architecture) and safety framework is a plus. Experience in writing efficient code to analyze large data sets and statistical analysis is preferred. Strong modeling skills using cell / Hardware in the Loop (HIL) would be a plus. Experience in signal/data processing, pattern recognition, data mining & classification is a plus. Passion for agile software development, continuous deployment and working with Global teams.
