Job Purpose:As Principal Cloud Data Engineer in GSK's Commercial Tech business unit, you\'ll lead the design and implementation of innovative cloud solutions that drive digital transformation in pharmaceutical marketing and sales. You\'ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure on Azure, supporting critical business applications and data analytics platforms. This role combines technical expertise with strategic thinking, as you\'ll be responsible for guiding architectural decisions, optimizing cloud costs, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Your work will directly impact GSK's ability to deliver life-changing medicines to patients worldwide by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our commercial operations.Responsibilities:Able to work independently very strong tech leadership skill (data engineering + architecture)Architect and implement the design, development, and data pipelines & data warehouses. Troubleshoot data pipelines & data warehouses.Communicate with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure that projects meet their requirements.Architected a data lake house (serverless) solution, consolidating disparate data sources and cutting data retrieval time by 50% using data bricks and able to handle petabyte(s) of data.Optimize data storage and retrieval processes in azure environment, hands on using data bricks data engineering and supporting advanced predictive maintenance analytics & scalability improvement for growing data demands.Utilize Python and Apache Spark to perform data cleansing and aggregation on massive datasets, generate cost vs usage metrics for storage/compute achieving a 99.9% data accuracy rate for business-critical reports.Implemented a robust data ingestion framework, rigorous data pipeline testing practices, utilizing DevOps for CI/CD, Docker (Advanced), Kubernetes (Intermediate), Terraform (Intermediate)Data Governance practices, company-wide data governance strategy that enforced data standards and streamlined data access for cross-functional team including data cataloging with unity catalog/ collibra / experience on Apptio / cloud cost / azure cost analysisRequired Skills & qualification:Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.Overall, 10 to 14years in IT & hands on experience in Azure cloud platforms.Proficiency in Databricks, Data Factory, and Data Warehouse technologiesStrong programming skills in Python and SQL.Experience with data analytics and visualization tools.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data sets.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Relevant industry certifications (Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer) are a plus.Why GSK?Uniting science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.GSK is a global biopharma company with a special purpose - to unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together - so we can positively impact the health of billions of people and deliver stronger, more sustainable shareholder returns - as an organisation where people can thrive.
