From sustainable transportation to advanced semiconductors, from satellite systems to life-saving medical devices, the next great leaps in human advancement will be powered by Ansys.Innovate With Ansys, Power Your Career.Summary / Role PurposeThe Principal Application Engineer is responsible for leveraging advanced-level engineering knowledge and relationships to help customers solving complex engineering problems using Ansys Engineering Simulation Products and to support regional accounts with significant impact on software revenue.The role encompasses providing technical support of our customers. engaging in presale activities to support sales campaigns, delivering professional services to support software growth and helping translate customer requirements into exciting new product features.Lead complex customer engagements through project teams for presales, professional service activities.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate technical mastery and knowledge of Engineering simulation techniques to provide the highest level of technical support to customers and channel partners, ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved customer satisfaction and productivity.Support sales in formulating and implementing a strategy for enhancing Aerospace and Defense market penetration to increase the business volume from Defense and Aerospace segments.Interacting with Defense and Aerospace customers regularly for developmental projects and addressing customer needs and desires for solutions during design and engineering stages.Take ownership of customer problems, proactively engage with selected accounts to provide comprehensive engineering simulation solutions. Lead complex customer engagements throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, interact with key customers to understand their product design needs, key business initiatives and engineering design workflows and articulate Ansys\' value proposition to Director level audiences.Gather customer requirements to support improvement of Ansys software and collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product capabilities and to guide Ansys product roadmap. Lead project teams testing new releases on industrial problems.Recommend policy initiatives, new product/partnership arrangements, and innovative approaches keeping in mind the market opportunities, practices, and competition to strengthen the company leadership position.Participate in internal corporate initiatives to share knowledge and to create best practices, both within and outside the discipline.Mentor junior engineersActively collaborate with other team members as well as other functions including sales, marketing and product management/development within and outside of the region to drive customer success.Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and ExperienceRequired education and degree type: Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace/Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or a related field.Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering environment: 10 yearsWorked on medium to large-size opportunities in the Defense Electronics domain or system Integration projects in Aerospace and Defense.Good understanding of Digital Transformation and Model Based Systems Engineering.Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages is preferred.Subject matter expert in one or more relevant disciplines within Ansys\' business and is/will be sought out for advice by other Ansys engineersDemonstrated understanding of engineering practices and product development, experience with building solutions using simulation technology and deploying those solutions within customers\' engineering workflows.Track record of delivering exceptional customer outcomes and revenue impact.Strong leadership and mentoring skills.Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers and to a wide range of audiences. Fluent in writing and speaking EnglishAbility to organize and drive multiple projects which are complex in nature across geographically diverse locations.
