The Data Protection Group drives the product strategy, roadmap, and engineering delivery of the Veritas products, which includes NetBackup, APTARE, Backup Exec, Enterprise Vault (EV), EV.cloud, eDiscovery platform, and Veritas SaaS Backup.

This positions primary role is to perform hardware, software, and cloud storage and service certifications for the Veritas NetBackup & Backup Exec products, working directly with Veritas partners to determine requirements. Hardware devices include disk arrays with API interfaces, tape drives, tape libraries, virtual tape libraries, encryption solutions, and NDMP NAS appliances. Software certification types include database agents, application agents, API plug-ins, drivers, and third-party software on multiple Operating System platforms as well as general NetBackup & Backup Exec product testing. Cloud storage and service certification includes testing private and public cloud storage solutions using cloud API (ex. S3, Swift, and Azure) connectors.

What skills, experience and education you need as a team member to succeed:

  • BE or Masters with major as Computer Science or related field.
  • 10+ years of software testing experience required, preferably in product-based companies and on enterprise softwares.
  • Ability to independently understand and test backup solutions or features with due consideration to aspects of functionality.
  • Strong collaboration, communication and professional skills used for partner management
  • Excellent problem-solving/analytical skills
  • Ability to craft and deliver comprehensive test Plans for features and solution is paramount followed by execution and automation.
  • Strong preference for experience and/or familiarity with Storage domain and Kubernetes/Containers, Cloud Native Application, Microservices.
  • Proven understanding of both Linux and Windows required. Good system level understanding of these operating system.
  • Hands on experience on installation and configuration of various operating systems (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, RedHat, SUSE and Windows server family)
  • Experience with setting up test environments for client-server and distributed systems in both UNIX/LINUX (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, RedHat, SUSE) and Windows environments
  • Candidate should be proficient in Perl/Java/Python for automation and knowledge of automation frameworks is plus
  • Proficiency in Jenkins processes, TDD and agile methodologies is added advantage.
  • Ability to convert requirements into test cases and ask appropriate questions to get deeper understanding of the system
  • Must be a self-motivated team player and be able to jump-start Test effort from the initial concept with a `can-do\' attitude
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attitude to learn, teach and adapt
What you will be doing:
  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical documents
  • Collaborate with development engineers and participate in technical discussions
  • Partner/Vendor management, including re-occurring meetings to discuss upcoming requirements, resolve roadblocks, etc.
  • Create and review test plans and test cases based on functional requirements
  • Automate test cases and participate in automation code reviews
  • Create and configure complex testing environments
  • Take ownership of end-to-end functional and integration testing
  • Report software defects in a defect management system
  • Verify fixes, potentially in any area of the software stack
  • Participate in improving test engineering best practices, tools, and processes
