Position Overview: The Primary English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality English language instruction to primary school students, fostering literacy skills, language development, and a love for reading and writing. This role involves creating engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to support each student's academic growth and overall development.
Key Responsibilities:
• Curriculum Planning and Instruction:
• Develop and implement age-appropriate and engaging English language lessons based on curriculum standards and learning objectives.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to promote reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students, including English language learners and students with special needs.
• Classroom Management:
• Establish clear expectations, routines, and procedures for classroom behavior and academic engagement.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to participate.
• Manage student behavior effectively, using positive reinforcement, behavior management techniques, and appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
• Assessment and Feedback:
• Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, including quizzes, tests, projects, and performance tasks.
• Use assessment data to monitor student progress, identify learning gaps, and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their language skills, academic performance, and learning goals.
• Collaboration and Professional Development:
• Collaborate with colleagues to align English language instruction with cross-curricular themes, projects, and activities.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness, pedagogical knowledge, and instructional practices.
• Share best practices, resources, and instructional strategies with colleagues to promote continuous improvement in English language education.
• Parent Communication and Engagement:
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, academic expectations, and classroom activities.
• Attend parent-teacher conferences, meetings, and events to discuss student performance, address concerns, and foster positive partnerships between home and school.
• Provide resources and support to parents to reinforce English language learning and literacy skills at home.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field. Master's degree or teaching certification preferred.
• Previous experience teaching English language to primary school students, preferably in a multicultural or international school setting.
• Proficiency in English language teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and instructional technology.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Knowledge of child development principles, literacy instruction, and assessment practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to professional growth, lifelong learning, and reflective teaching practices.
