Job Summary:
The Primary Computer Teacher will be responsible for teaching basic computer skills and digital literacy to students in grades K-5. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and education, and will be adept at creating engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons. This role requires a combination of teaching skills, technical knowledge, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in the computer lab and classroom settings.
• Curriculum Development: Develop and implement age-appropriate computer science curriculum and materials that align with school standards and educational goals.
• Student Engagement: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, curiosity, and a love for technology.
• Assessment: Evaluate student performance and progress through regular assessments, providing feedback and support to help students achieve learning objectives.
• Technology Integration: Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate technology into other subject areas, enhancing overall student learning experiences.
• Classroom Management: Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
• Professional Development: Stay current with developments in educational technology and participate in professional development opportunities.
• Parent Communication: Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, technology use, and any concerns.
• Resource Management: Manage and maintain computer lab equipment, software, and supplies, ensuring all technology is in good working condition.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Education, or a related field.
• Certification: Teaching certification or licensure as required by the state or educational institution.
• Experience: Previous teaching experience, particularly with primary-aged children, is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in a variety of computer applications, educational software, and basic troubleshooting skills.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
