Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Planning and Development:
• Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the school's philosophy, standards, and objectives.
• Ensure that lesson plans are tailored to individual needs, promoting holistic development (social, emotional, cognitive, physical).
• Align curriculum with national or international educational standards (as applicable).
• Incorporate creative and interactive learning strategies to engage young children.
2. Classroom Teaching:
• Teach pre-primary students in a nurturing and stimulating environment.
• Use play-based and hands-on learning methods to promote learning through exploration.
• Encourage language, motor, and social skill development through structured activities.
• Continuously assess students' progress, providing both formal and informal feedback.
• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all children.
3. Team Leadership and Coordination:
• Lead and support a team of pre-primary teachers, ensuring that they are effectively implementing curriculum and classroom management strategies.
• Conduct regular meetings with the pre-primary teaching staff to discuss teaching strategies, student progress, and any concerns.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to new teachers and teaching assistants.
• Coordinate with other grade-level coordinators for cross-curricular planning.
4. Parent and Community Engagement:
• Establish strong communication with parents, offering regular updates on student progress, upcoming events, and developmental milestones.
• Organize and participate in parent-teacher meetings, conferences, and workshops.
• Foster positive relationships with the local community to enrich the students' educational experiences.
5. Assessment and Reporting:
• Observe and document children's learning progress through various assessment methods (e.g., portfolios, checklists, anecdotal records).
• Prepare and present regular progress reports for parents and administration.
• Identify any learning or behavioral concerns and work with parents and specialists to address them.
6. Professional Development:
• Stay current with developments in early childhood education through workshops, courses, and reading.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth among pre-primary staff.
7. Administration and Organization:
• Manage and maintain classroom resources, including learning materials, furniture, and educational tools.
• Ensure that the classroom is well-organized and conducive to learning.
• Assist in the development of school-wide events, field trips, and celebrations.
