The Pre-Primary Co-Teacher collaborates with the lead teacher to deliver a high-quality early childhood education program. This role involves supporting the lead teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities, maintaining a safe and engaging classroom environment, and fostering positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in Planning and Implementation:
• Support the lead teacher in creating and implementing lesson plans that align with the curriculum.
• Assist in setting up and organizing learning centers and activities.
• Participate in the development of individualized learning plans for each child.
• Classroom Management:
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
• Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
• Assist in managing classroom behavior in a positive and effective manner.
• Instruction and Interaction:
• Engage with children in a variety of activities to promote their development across cognitive, social, emotional, and physical domains.
• Provide individualized attention and support to children as needed.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom community.
• Assessment and Documentation:
• Observe and document children's progress and development.
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of children's attendance, progress, and any concerns.
• Communicate regularly with the lead teacher about observations and insights.
• Communication and Collaboration:
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
• Communicate effectively with parents about their child's development and any classroom activities or events.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff members to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
• Professional Development:
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops as required.
• Other Duties:
• Assist with classroom setup and cleanup.
• Support the lead teacher in any additional tasks as needed.
• Adhere to school policies and regulations.
Qualifications:
• Education:
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. An associate degree or higher in early childhood education or a related field is preferred.
• Experience:
• Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting is highly desirable.1-3 years
• Skills and Abilities:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in the development of young children.
• Basic knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
