Job description Brief Description of Problem 1: Social media platforms are a breeding ground for large amounts of user-generated text data. This data can reflect and amplify existing societal biases, including gender bias. Large language models (LLMs) trained on such data can inherit and perpetuate these biases. The objective is to develop a method using LLMs to effectively identify gender bias in social media text.

Brief Description of Problem 2: The analysis of social media data is crucial for understanding public opinion, social trends, and online behavior. However, traditional methods focusing solely on text analysis miss valuable information conveyed through other modalities like images, videos, and emojis. This gap is even wider for Dravidian languages, a diverse language family with limited resources for multimodal analysis. The objective is to address this challenge by developing robust methods for analyzing multimodal social media data in Dravidian languages. The candidate will be working with experts from AVVP and International collaborators from AVVP.
