The Department- of Physics in the School of Natural Sciences at Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, India, has a postdoctoral position in the "•Experimental Condensed Matter Physics•" field.

The current research activities of the research group include topics related to the field of "Quantum Materials" e.g. Frustrated magnet, Quantum criticality, Topological magnetic materials. The research group mainly discover and synthesize new quantum materials in polycrystalline and single-crystalline forms. Then, characterize the ground state by utilizing basic bulk techniques (magnetization, specific heat, resistivity, etc.) and then employ powerful microscopic techniques (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Muon Spin Relaxation/Rotation, Neutron scattering) to elucidate the static and dynamic properties of the complex ground state.

We offer researchers an opportunity to work in a dynamic and highly interactive environment. For more information about the research group, please visit:

Nature of work: The post-doctoral fellow (PDF) will primarily do research in one or more fields aligned with the research group's interests. The PDF will also academically support the ongoing projects of PhD and undergraduate students in the research group.

Essential Qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics in the research field related to quantum materials (broadly strongly correlated electron systems) from a reputed University or Research Institute and should have a Good Academic Track Record throughout her/his Career. Moreover, a very good knowledge on condensed matter physics (mainly magnetism) is mandatory.

(Excellent candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. Thesis and waiting for their Thesis Defence may also , and if chosen, will receive a Reduced Fellowship as per the norms of SN IoE, until they complete their Thesis Defence and receive the (provisional) degree.

Desired expertise: Experience in following area is desired:

(i) Experience in synthesizing new materials.

(ii) Experience in performing and analysing data of basic characterizing techniques (magnetization, specific heat, resistivity etc.)

(iii) Experience in performing and analysing data of more powerful techniques (e.g. neutron scattering, Muon Spin Relaxation/Rotation etc.)

Duration of the Project: Initially for 1 year which may be extended for another year upon satisfactory progress in research work.

Fellowship

? 65000- p.m. (Consolidated)

Eligible and interested candidates should submit their application with a complete CV (having personal details, academic qualifications, research experience, publications, a statement of research including future plans, and also the names, affiliations, and email addresses of two referees) and other relevant documents as attachments. Interested candidates may send these documents to Mr. Pankaj Kumar Manav (pankaj.manav@snu.edu.in) and a copy to Dr. Mayukh Majumder (mayukh.majumder@snu.edu.in) in a combined single PDF file. The subject line of the e-mail should be "Full name of the candidate | Application for Quantum materials postdoc position" .

(Please do not request your referees to send references at the first stage, i.e. while submitting the application. For shortlisted candidates, we will contact the referees you have mentioned on your CV. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed offline or online. Also, note that the final appointment is subject to verification of the relevant degree.)

Last date of Application: 12 th August 2024 .
