PLC & SCADA Project Engineer:- Key Responsibilities
- System Design and Development:
- Develop and implement PLC and SCADA systems for industrial automation projects.
- Design control system architectures including selection of hardware and software components.
- Programming:
- Write and debug PLC code using ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagrams.
- Develop SCADA applications including graphic displays, trends, alarms, and reports.
- Installation and Commissioning:
- Oversee the installation of control systems at client sites.
- Conduct testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of PLC and SCADA systems.
- Maintenance and Support:
- Provide ongoing support and maintenance for installed systems.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to control systems.
- Documentation and Training:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for all aspects of the control systems.
- Provide training to end-users and operators on system functionality and maintenance.
- Project Management:
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and IT professionals.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
- Experience with SCADA software (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, Siemens WinCC).
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
- Familiarity with HMI design and implementation.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
- Ability to design efficient and reliable control systems.
- Project Management:
- Experience in managing automation projects from conception to completion.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation) are a plus.
- Previous experience in a similar role within an industrial environment.
- PLC Programming Software: Siemens STEP 7, Rockwell Automation RSLogix, Schneider Electric Unity Pro.
- SCADA Systems: Wonderware InTouch, Ignition, Siemens WinCC.
- HMI Development Tools: PanelView, FactoryTalk View.
- Simulation Software: MATLAB, Simulink.
- Field Instruments and Sensors: Temperature sensors, pressure transducers, flow meters.
- Networking Equipment: Routers, switches, and industrial network configurations.
- Entry-Level: Junior PLC & SCADA Engineer, Control Systems Technician.
- Mid-Level: PLC & SCADA Project Engineer, Automation Engineer.
- Senior-Level: Senior Control Systems Engineer, Lead Automation Engineer, Project Manager.
- Specializations: Robotics, Advanced Process Control, Industrial IoT (Internet of Things).
- Industries: Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Water Treatment, Food & Beverage, Automotive, Pharmaceuticals.
- Work Settings: On-site at industrial plants, in-office for design and programming, occasional remote work.
