Job Description

Sample Collection and Preparation: Collect and prepare samples for analysis, including blood, tissue, water, or other substances depending on the type of lab.
Conducting Tests and Experiments: Perform standard laboratory tests, experiments, or procedures, such as blood tests, chemical analyses, microbiological cultures, or environmental testing.
Operating Lab Equipment: Use laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, spectrometers, and other tools to conduct tests and analyze samples.
Recording and Analyzing Results: Maintain accurate records of lab results and ensure all data is properly logged and documented.
Ensuring Quality Control: Ensure that laboratory processes and procedures meet quality control standards to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Maintenance and Calibration: Regularly maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure its functionality and accuracy.
Safety and Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and guidelines.
Reporting Findings: Prepare reports or summaries of test results for review by senior technicians, supervisors, or scientists. Communicate findings clearly.
Assisting in Research and Development: In research labs, assist in the development of new tests, procedures, or technologies.
Inventory Management: Keep track of supplies and reagents, notifying supervisors when resources are running low.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: A high school diploma is required, with a degree or certificate in laboratory technology, biology, chemistry, or a related field typically required for most positions.
Experience: Previous laboratory experience or internships are often preferred.
