Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and efficient Phlebotomist with a background in nursing or laboratory technology to perform blood collection and other specimen collection tasks. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, ensuring a positive and professional interaction with patients and healthcare staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Blood Collection: Perform venipunctures, fingersticks, and other blood collection techniques following standard procedures and safety guidelines.
• Specimen Handling: Label and process blood and other specimens accurately for laboratory analysis, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Patient Interaction: Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients before, during, and after procedures, addressing any questions or concerns.
• Data Management: Maintain accurate and complete records of patient interactions and specimen collections in electronic health record systems.
• Equipment Maintenance: Ensure phlebotomy equipment is properly sterilized and maintained, reporting any issues to the laboratory manager.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow within the clinic.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper disposal of biohazard materials.

Qualifications:

• Education: Diploma or degree in Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related field.
• Certification: Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in phlebotomy or related clinical role.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in blood collection techniques and specimen handling.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems is a plus.
