Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our team, specializing in home-based blood collection services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing safe, efficient, and professional phlebotomy services to patients in their homes or other designated locations. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities:



Travel to patients' homes or other designated locations to perform blood draws. Verify patient identity and ensure proper paperwork is completed. Explain the blood collection procedure to patients, addressing any concerns or questions. Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures using appropriate techniques and equipment. Collect and label blood samples accurately, ensuring proper storage and handling. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the phlebotomy kit and vehicle. Adhere to all safety protocols, including infection control and handling of biohazardous materials. Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and blood collection procedures. Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, notifying supervisor of any needs. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers. Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality. [Optional: May be required to process and transport samples to the laboratory.] [Optional: May be required to perform basic point-of-care testing.]

Qualifications:



High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a phlebotomy training program is required. Current and valid Phlebotomy Technician certification (e.g., CPT, etc.) as required by state regulations. Proven experience in performing venipuncture and capillary punctures, preferably in a home healthcare or mobile phlebotomy setting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures. Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism. Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

Preferred Qualifications:



Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems. Bilingual in [relevant languages]. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Physical Requirements:



Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry phlebotomy supplies and equipment. Ability to drive for extended periods. Ability to work in various weather conditions.
