Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Perform phlebotomy procedures to collect blood specimens from patients, using venipuncture or fingerstick methods.
• Maintain the integrity of specimens by following aseptic techniques and department procedures, as well as observing isolation procedures.
• Verify test requisitions and compare information with the nursing station log, bringing any discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.
• Ensure accurate patient identification by verifying patient readings and confirming patient identification.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to minimize the risk of infection or contamination.
• Properly label and package specimens for transport to the laboratory, ensuring accurate identification and preventing cross-contamination.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate efficient and safe phlebotomy procedures.
• Utilize electronic medical records system to access and update patient information and test results.
• Provide exceptional patient care by demonstrating compassion, empathy, and professionalism during phlebotomy procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow all HIPAA regulations.

• National certification as a phlebotomy technician or relevant certification from an approved phlebotomy program.
• Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in phlebotomy, including both venipuncture and fingerstick techniques.
• Solid understanding of aseptic techniques and procedures for maintaining specimen integrity.
• Familiarity with medical laboratory technology and laboratory equipment commonly used in phlebotomy.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to phlebotomy, including infection
