Key Responsibilities:
• Lesson Planning and Instruction:
• Design and deliver engaging and interactive lessons in English, focusing on both language skills (grammar, writing, speaking) and literature.
• Teach English literature, including prose, poetry, plays, and novels, using effective teaching strategies.
• Use a variety of teaching methods, such as group discussions, debates, multimedia presentations, and project-based learning, to engage students.
• Ensure lessons are in line with the prescribed curriculum (CBSE, ICSE, or other relevant boards).
• Curriculum Management:
• Develop and prepare course materials, including lesson plans, assignments, worksheets, and projects.
• Ensure that teaching material aligns with the curriculum and addresses the students' learning objectives.
• Regularly review and update the curriculum to ensure it is relevant, challenging, and appropriate for the students' needs.
• Assessment and Evaluation:
• Create and administer assessments such as tests, quizzes, assignments, and projects to evaluate students' understanding of language and literature.
• Provide constructive feedback on students' written and verbal work to improve their language proficiency and analytical skills.
• Track student progress and performance and maintain accurate records of assessments, grades, and other evaluations.
• Classroom Management:
• Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Foster a supportive and respectful classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and open discussions.
• Address any disciplinary issues in a professional manner while ensuring all students feel valued and respected.
• Student Support:
• Offer extra support to students who need additional help with understanding English grammar, literature, or writing skills.
• Conduct remedial sessions, group discussions, or writing workshops to assist students in improving their academic performance.
• Encourage students to participate in literary activities, such as debates, drama, or writing competitions.
• Extra-Curricular Activities:
• Encourage and guide students in extra-curricular activities such as English literature clubs, creative writing workshops, debates, and drama performances.
• Organize literary events, reading sessions, or book clubs to develop students' love for literature and language.
• Participate in school events such as literary fests, annual day, or speech competitions.
• Parent and Teacher Communication:
• Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student performance, attendance, and overall academic development.
• Participate in parent-teacher meetings to discuss students' progress, address concerns, and offer suggestions for improvement.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers to ensure that students' academic and personal development is fully supported.
• Professional Development:
• Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of English literature, language teaching, and educational methodologies.
• Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences related to teaching English and literature.
• Participate in school committees, staff meetings, and educational forums to contribute to the overall development of the school.
• Incorporating Technology in Teaching:
• Integrate modern technology, such as digital resources, multimedia presentations, and online learning platforms, into lessons to make them more engaging.
• Use interactive tools (e.g., language apps, e-books, online quizzes) to reinforce language learning and improve student engagement.
• Encourage students to use technology for research, presentations, and assignments related to English.
