Key Responsibilities:
• Lesson Planning and Instruction:
• Develop and implement detailed lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards for secondary English education.
• Teach various aspects of English language and literature, including reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and literary analysis.
• Employ diverse teaching methods and resources to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
• Curriculum Development:
• Design and adapt curriculum materials, including lesson plans, assignments, and assessments, to ensure they are relevant and challenging.
• Integrate classic and contemporary literature into the curriculum to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of English literature.
• Assessment and Evaluation:
• Create and administer assessments, tests, and projects to evaluate student understanding and progress.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work and performance.
• Maintain accurate records of student grades and performance, and communicate progress to parents and guardians.
• Student Support and Mentorship:
• Offer guidance and support to students in their academic development and personal growth.
• Address individual learning needs and provide additional assistance or enrichment as required.
• Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and self-expression.
• Professional Development:
• Stay current with developments in English education, including new literature, pedagogical strategies, and educational technologies.
• Participate in professional development opportunities such as workshops, conferences, and training sessions.
• Engage in reflective practices and seek feedback to continuously improve teaching methods.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with colleagues, including other English teachers and school staff, to support overall educational goals and student success.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress, classroom activities, and any concerns.
• Participate in school meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-related events.
• Administrative Duties:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and other administrative documentation.
• Manage classroom resources and materials to ensure an effective learning environment.
• Adhere to school policies and procedures, including those related to student safety and conduct.
Qualifications:
• Master's degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
• Teaching certification or licensure in the relevant state or country.
• Extensive knowledge of English language and literature, including classical and contemporary works.
• Proven experience teaching English at the secondary school level.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
