Key Responsibilities:Instruction and Curriculum Development:
• Lesson Planning: Develop and implement detailed lesson plans that align with the senior secondary economics curriculum, focusing on both theoretical and practical aspects of economics.
• Teaching: Deliver lectures and conduct classes on various topics in economics, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, and development economics.
• Curriculum Development: Create and adapt curriculum materials, including textbooks, case studies, and multimedia resources, to enhance student learning and engagement.
Assessment and Evaluation:
• Student Assessment: Design and administer assessments such as tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations to evaluate students' understanding and application of economic concepts.
• Grading: Evaluate and grade student work, providing constructive feedback to help students improve and excel in their studies.
• Progress Monitoring: Track and document students' academic progress and prepare detailed progress reports.
Classroom Management:
• Environment: Create a stimulating and interactive classroom environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
• Behavior Management: Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a focused and respectful learning atmosphere.
Student Support:
• Individual Attention: Offer additional support to students who require extra help or have specific learning needs in economics.
• Guidance: Provide career guidance and academic advice related to economics and related fields of study.
Professional Development:
• Training: Stay updated with the latest developments in economics education, teaching methodologies, and economic trends through professional development opportunities.
• Collaboration: Work with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and contribute to the enhancement of the overall educational program.
Administrative Duties:
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, student attendance, grades, and other relevant documentation.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to school policies, educational standards, and health and safety regulations.
Extracurricular Activities:
• Clubs and Events: Participate in or supervise extracurricular activities related to economics, such as economics clubs, debates, or academic competitions.
Parent and Community Interaction:
• Communication: Regularly communicate with parents and guardians regarding students' progress, behavior, and academic needs.
• Engagement: Engage with the community to support and promote economics education and related activities.
Qualifications:
• Education: Master's degree in Economics, Economics Education, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching qualification is often required.
• Experience: Prior teaching experience at the senior secondary level is preferred.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of economics concepts and theories, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans.
• Certification: Teaching certification or license as per local education authority requirements.
