Job Description
A PGT biology teacher's responsibilities include:
• Curriculum delivery Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that are engaging and comprehensive, and align with the curriculum for the grade level
• Classroom management Create a safe, inclusive, and conducive learning environment, and maintain discipline
• Assessment and evaluation Design and implement periodic assessments to evaluate student understanding, and provide constructive feedback
• Academic enrichment Organize extracurricular and co-curricular activities, and support students preparing for competitive exams
• Professional collaboration Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and professional development programs
Some common skills for biology teachers include: Problem solving, Research, Progress reporting, and Multilingualism. To become a biology teacher, you typically need a degree in biology or science, and preferably a master's degree. A degree in secondary education with a focus in biology is also acceptable, and a completed teaching apprenticeship is recommended.
