This Job Purpose also requires me to work as a use full link between Marketing Function and Logistics Function in order to bring synergy effect for Material movement planning.
Through this Job Function We can also ensure timely and cost effective movement of Goods on OTIF(On time In Full) Principal,
Execute the logistics plan at a Pan India level, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of product to depots/ direct customers across the Pan India.Job Context & Major ChallengesJob Context :-
1] Birla White is the largest single location Manufacturer of White Cement in the country. Also manufacturer of WallCare Putty. The manufacturing / packing facilities are located at (a) Kharia Khanghar (Mfg.), District Jodhpur, Rajasthan; (b) Katni (Mfg.), District Katni, Madhya Pradesh and (c) Bagru (Packing), District Jaipur, Rajasthan.
With these three facilities Birla White caters to 86 Depots and more than 500 district Pan India, with Overseas operations in Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh & GCC.
2] Products are WallCare Putty, White Cement, Level Plast, Textura & Wall Primer.
3] Gross Revenue (approx.) xe2x80x93 Rs. 2500 Crores / Annum (FY16).
4] Major Competitors are a) JK White Cement b) Asian Paints c) Walplast
5] Technology used MS Office, FOIS system to track rake movement.
6] Increasing Criticality owing to Expansion and increase in Volumes of Wall Care Putty and on the other with limited capacity of White Cement available. Movement of material is challenging task due to the higer no. if SKU's. The challenge gets multiplied with the dynamics and uncertainties of competitive market conditions wherein, the logistics & dispatch plans are not static in a given period. The uncertainties arising out of external factors (like change in fuel prices, local logistical advantages of competitors in specific markets, troughs & crests in monthly off-take of Stockists linked to ongoing market-demand, road transporters strike, impact of seasonality on availability of adequate means of transportation etc.) lead to daily fine-tuning of dispatch plan and coordination with various internal customers/ external agencies so that the Monthly/ Quarterly/ Yearly Sales target are met. Also, the coordination task with relevant All-India offices of CONCOR/Railway (tasks like rake-planning & transhipment planning, control of financial liabilities arising out of damages/ ground-rents/ penalties/ demurrages, maintaining cordial relations with key-decision-makers and staff in CONCOR & Indian Railways etc.), demands dedicated focus and highly effective coordination & interpersonal skills. Creating and Presenting All India MIS with relation to sales,Market Share,Growth,Target Vs Actual. Compiling, analysing and presenting Competitor details to FH(M) in order to keep a tab on competitor movement in Market. Placement of order plan as per JDA's SCS plan in order to keep availability of Material in Depot.Major Challenges :-

1. Uncertain market conditions impacting the variables of transportation/ movement of goods.
2. Manage On-Time, In-Full delivery of all the SKU (Stock-keeping Units) with a constant review & control of - dispatch plan, transit-time in shipment of goods, damages, withheld material at Container Yards etc.
3. Effective coordination with all the internal/ external touch-points so as to maintain high level of customer satisfaction, especially on the parameter of OTIF Delivery.
4. To streamline daily dispatch plan in a manner that it doesnt affect the monthly/ quarterly/ yearly sales target of Marketing-function.
5. To assist Marketing Head in preparing near-accurate monthly sales budget of the entire product-mix so that the production-planning & logistics-planning are well aligned and deviations are minimized.
6. Managing Supply routines as per Bucket Sale schedule.
7. Ensuring Rake Availability so that required Supply chain should not be disturbed in case of Peak or increased demand.External :-
1. Being a Govt Organisation Coordination and communication with Railways and CONCOR requires lots of Persuasion, and other liasoning skills.
2. Ensuring Movement of Material even in case of Stabling of rakes, for this lots of repo building with Concor and Railways Is required.Key Result Areas KRA (Accountabilities) (Max 1325 Characters) Supporting Actions (Max 1325 Characters)
KRA1 CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CUSTOMER SATISFACTION1. Ensure timely dispatch of material, as per Customers plan, through daily follow-up & coordination with Logistics (Kharia)
2. In pro-active coordination with the concerned sales team, ensure that the Optimum Stock Level in the Depots (Godowns) is maintained so that the Customer at these locations doesnt face a stock-out situation.
3. To interact with dis-satisfied Customers (Stockists & Industrial buyers), in the event of delays in delivery of material. Accordingly, handle their grudges/ complaints in a manner that such situation crisis does not have a bearing on their relationship with the Organistaion.
4. Serve as an important central link between Logistics (Kharia) and Regional teams to facilitate the OTIF (On-time, In-Full) delivery of goods.
KRA2 COORDINATION WITH CONTAINER CORPORATION OF INDIA (CONCOR) 1. Coordinate with all relevant offices of CONCOR, on All-India basis, for timely rake planning and trans-shipment planning on daily basis.
2. Maintain cordial relationship with key-decision-makers and staff in CONCOR to control financial liabilities arising out of damages, ground-rents, penalties/ demurrages, withheld containers etc.
3. Facilitate the negotiations between Logistics (Kharia) and CONCOR, thus contributing in cost-effective transportation of goods.
4. Ensure timely placement of rakes at Works-Kharia.
KRA3 Logistics operations Monitor ageing analysis of stock and ensure delivery to customer on FIFO basis from Rail Head / Godown., Execute the logistics plan at a Pan India level, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of product to depots/direct customers across the Pan India.
Provide inputs to the Head D&D including rake forecast w.r.t required material in coming days, etc.
KRA4 Cost Management Filing of waiver applications for demurrage and wharfage charges with local authorities so as to minimize costs. Monitor logistics inefficiencies at a Pan India level and recommend corrective action to the Head D&D.
Arrange for alternative means of transport where necessary in order to minimize the cost of transportation delays. Provide market intelligence trends on relevant matters related to shipping and logistics.
Ensure the accurate maintenance of required statuary records w.r.t agreement for secondary transportation, handling & godown on rent agreement, etc.
KRA5 Liaison and vendor management To avail the best platform for placement of rake keeping view of faster unloading & safety of the shipment,Liaise with railways authorities across the Pan India to ensure smooth logistics operations,Liaise with vendors for road transport to ensure transportation at optimal costs
