Job Description

An orthodontist specializes in diagnosing, preventing, and correcting misaligned teeth and jaws. Their job description typically includes:

• Diagnosis : Conducting thorough examinations of patients' teeth, jaws, and facial structure to diagnose issues such as malocclusions (misaligned teeth or jaws), overcrowding, overbites, underbites, and other orthodontic problems.
• Treatment Planning : Creating customized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, which may involve the use of braces, aligners, retainers, or other orthodontic appliances.
• Braces Installation and Adjustment : Installing braces and other orthodontic appliances, and periodically adjusting them to ensure that teeth are moving into their correct positions gradually over time.
• Monitoring Progress : Regularly monitoring patients' progress throughout their treatment to ensure that their teeth and jaws are moving as planned and making adjustments to the treatment plan as necessary.
• Educating Patients : Providing patients with information and guidance on proper oral hygiene practices and habits that will help maintain the results of their orthodontic treatment.
• Collaboration : Collaborating with other dental professionals, such as general dentists, oral surgeons, and periodontists, as needed to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans for patients.
• Continuing Education : Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in orthodontic techniques, technologies, and research through continuing education courses and professional development activities.
