• Explaining treatment processes and procedures to parents or guardians to ensure they understand the dentist's recommendations.
• Handling emergencies
• Performing dental exams and X-rays to identify potential problems with teeth and gums.
• Diagnosing and treating dental conditions in children, including cavities and infections
• Determining whether a child's teeth need to be cleaned or if cavities need to be filled
• Educating patients on proper oral hygiene techniques to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other issues
• Treating children who have physical, behavioral, or emotional disabilities that affect their dental care needs
• Providing dental care to infants in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) who have difficulty eating due to medical problems with their teeth or mouth
• Providing treatment to prevent orthodontic problems such as crooked teeth or jaw misalignment by prescribing braces or other devices
