Pathology Technician
Job Description
A pathology technician's job is to assist pathologists in performing laboratory tests and providing diagnoses or treatment recommendations. Their duties include:
• Preparing samples : Cutting, staining, and preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination
• Operating equipment : Setting up, operating, and maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments
• Recording results : Calculating and recording results, and ensuring data accuracy
• Assisting with procedures : Assisting with autopsies, surgical procedures, and other tests
• Handling waste : Handling and disposing of biological and chemical waste safely
• Managing samples : Organizing and managing samples, specimens, and laboratory records
• Ensuring compliance : Ensuring that all tests and procedures comply with regulatory standards
• Communicating findings : Communicating findings to pathologists and other medical professionals
• Training others : Training or assisting other technicians in using lab equipment
