Job Summary:
The Pediatric Physiotherapist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating children with physical impairments, disabilities, or injuries. This role involves collaborating with children, their families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective, individualized treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assessment and Diagnosis: Perform comprehensive assessments of children's physical conditions, movements, and functional abilities using various evaluation tools and techniques.
• Treatment Planning: Design and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and other interventions to enhance physical function and development.
• Therapy Implementation: Conduct hands-on therapy sessions to help children improve strength, flexibility, coordination, and overall physical performance.
• Family Education: Educate parents and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, techniques, and strategies to support their child's development and therapy at home.
• Progress Monitoring: Track and document the child's progress regularly, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Collaboration: Work with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, to provide comprehensive care for the child.
• Advocacy and Support: Support and advocate for the child's needs, offering emotional support to families as they manage their child's physical challenges.
Qualifications:
• Education: Master's degree in Physiotherapy (MPT) with a focus or specialization in pediatric physiotherapy.
• Certification: Valid state or national certification or licensure as a physiotherapist.
• Experience: 0-2 years of experience working with pediatric patients. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in developing and implementing effective treatment plans, and an in-depth understanding of pediatric physical development.
Preferred Skills:
• Additional training or certification in pediatric physiotherapy.
• Familiarity with specific pediatric conditions and therapeutic interventions.
Work Environment:
• Setting: Pediatric physiotherapists may work in various settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics, schools, or home environments.
• Hours: Full-time position with an 8-hour duty schedule. Part-time or flexible hours may be available depending on the employer.
