Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare the operation theatre before surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
• Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures, anticipating their needs and providing support as required.
• Set up and operate surgical equipment and instrumentation, including but not limited to, anesthesia machines, surgical lights, and suction devices.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning them on the operating table and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
• Monitor vital signs and other patient indicators during surgery, alerting the surgical team to any abnormalities or concerns.
• Maintain a sterile environment in the operation theatre, following strict infection control protocols and guidelines.
• Clean and disinfect surgical instruments and equipment after procedures, ensuring they are properly sterilized and stored for future use.
• Assist with transporting patients to and from the operation theatre, ensuring their safety and comfort during transit.
• Participate in the inventory management of operation theatre supplies and equipment, assisting with ordering and restocking as needed.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
Qualifications:
• Diploma or certification in Operation Theatre Technology or a related field.
• Previous experience working as an OT Technician or in a similar role in a healthcare setting, preferably in a surgical environment.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment used in various types of surgeries, especially those related to mothers and children.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Compassionate and empathetic demeanor, with a commitment to providing high-quality care to patients.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
