Position Overview:

• An Operating Theatre Technician is a vital member of the surgical team responsible for preparing and maintaining the operating room, assisting during surgeries, and ensuring all necessary equipment and instruments are available and functioning.
• They collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthetists and nurses to provide efficient and safe surgical care.

Key Responsibilities:
Preparation of the Operating Room:

• Set up and organize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Ensure the sterility of the operating room and instruments.
• Check and prepare anesthesia equipment.
• Assisting During Surgery: Assist surgeons and anesthetists during procedures, Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team as needed and Monitor and manage equipment during operations.

Post-Surgical Duties: Patient Care Maintenance and Documentation:

• Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment after procedures.
• Dispose of medical waste in compliance with protocols.
• Restock operating room supplies for upcoming procedures.
• Assist in transferring patients to and from the operating room.
• Help position patients appropriately for surgical procedures.
• Monitor patient vitals as directed by medical staff.
• Inspect and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
• Report any malfunctioning equipment to the relevant department.
• Maintain accurate records of surgeries, equipment use, and sterilization logs.

Preferred Education

-Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology

-Diploma in OT technician

-Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Operation Theater Technology
