Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Clinical Assessments :
• Conduct detailed eye examinations and assessments for various ocular conditions.
• Diagnose and manage eye diseases, providing appropriate treatment plans.
• Patient Management :
• Oversee OPD operations, ensuring efficient patient flow and addressing any concerns.
• Coordinate with other healthcare professionals for integrated patient care.
• Prescription and Treatment :
• Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or therapies tailored to individual patient needs.
• Recommend and manage vision therapy programs as necessary.
• Supervision and Training :
• Mentor and supervise junior optometrists, optometry students, and support staff.
• Provide training on clinical techniques, equipment use, and patient management.
• Quality Assurance :
• Implement protocols and guidelines to ensure high standards of care.
• Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Research and Development :
• Engage in clinical research to enhance practice and contribute to the field of optometry.
• Stay updated on advancements in optometry and incorporate them into practice.
• Community Engagement :
• Participate in community outreach programs to promote eye health awareness.
• Conduct workshops and seminars on vision care.
• Documentation and Record Keeping :
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including examination findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and data protection laws.
• Equipment Management :
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of diagnostic equipment and technology.
• Ensure proper use and training of staff on equipment.
• Collaboration :
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, general practitioners, and other healthcare providers for comprehensive patient care.
• Attend multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases.

OPD Handling Specifics:

• Patient Interaction : Greet and assess patients, gather medical histories, and understand their visual concerns.
• Appointment Scheduling : Manage patient appointments, ensuring timely follow-up and continuity of care.
• Crisis Management : Address urgent patient concerns and emergencies effectively within the outpatient setting.
• Feedback Mechanism : Implement and manage patient feedback systems to improve services.

A consultant optometrist plays a vital role not just in clinical care but also in shaping the overall functioning of eye care services, making a significant impact on both patient outcomes and team performance.

Pay: ?10,000.00 - ?12,000.00 per month
