• Conduct Comprehensive Eye Exams: Perform thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity, eye health, and visual function. Diagnose and manage conditions such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
• Prescribe Corrective Lenses: Determine the appropriate prescription for glasses and contact lenses based on the patient's visual needs and eye health.
• Diagnose and Treat Eye Conditions: Identify and manage eye diseases and conditions through clinical examination, diagnostic tests, and appropriate treatment plans. Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists as needed.
• Provide Patient Education: Educate patients about eye health, preventive care, and proper use and maintenance of corrective lenses. Address patient concerns and questions regarding their eye health.
• Maintain Accurate Records: Document patient care and examination results accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work collaboratively with opticians, ophthalmologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care and coordinate treatment plans.
• Stay Informed on Industry Trends: Stay updated on advancements in optometry, new treatment methods, and technological innovations in eye care. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
