Job Purpose:

Design, develop, and optimize optical systems and components for various applications such as imaging, communication, and sensing. Utilize advanced knowledge of optics, photonics, and related fields to create innovative solutions that meet technical and operational requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optical systems into broader technologies and ensure their performance and reliability.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Required Experience:

• Proven experience in optical engineering, with a minimum of 2-3 years preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong understanding of optical principles, including geometrical optics, physical optics, and photonics.
• Proficiency in optical design software such as Zemax, Code V, or LightTools.
• Experience with optical fabrication and testing techniques.
• Knowledge of laser systems, optical fibers, and imaging systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C++ for simulation and data analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with optical metrology and measurement techniques.
• Knowledge of optical communication systems and components.
• Familiarity with electronic and mechanical aspects of optical system integration.
• Experience with CAD software for mechanical design of optical components.

• Design and develop optical systems and components for applications such as imaging, sensing, and communication.
• Utilize optical design software to create and optimize optical layouts and simulations.
• Prototyping and Testing:
• Build and test prototypes of optical systems to evaluate performance and validate designs.
• Perform optical alignment, calibration, and testing using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Optimization:
• Optimize optical systems for performance, efficiency, and manufacturability.
• Implement design changes and improvements based on test results and feedback.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Document design processes, methodologies, findings, and outcomes.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for stakeholders and team members.
• Collaboration:
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to integrate optical systems into broader technologies.
• Participate in cross-functional team meetings to align on project goals and deliverables.
• Continuous Learning:
• Stay up-to-date with the latest research and trends in optical engineering and related fields.
• Participate in conferences, workshops, and other professional development opportunities.
• Quality Assurance:
• Ensure that optical systems meet quality standards and specifications.
• Perform failure analysis and troubleshoot optical issues as they arise.
