Its an opportunity to be part of something special.About the roleOur Infrastructure Engineering team is looking for an Operating Systems Lead requiring expertise in design and engineering of Linux and Windows Operating Systems, along with Linux and Windows supporting services (MECM/SCCM/Red Hat Satellite, etc.), escalation troubleshooting for MSP, upgrades, new feature implementation, reporting, secure connection activities, continuity of fundamental OS operation and readiness services.The role requires in effect continue to complete inflight tasks and support BAU and operational readiness as required in the Azure / SSCM / Red Hat Satellite services and continue work on imaging and build pipelines.Key responsibilities

  • Set strategic direction for systems and define reference target architecture & roadmap for the entire Linux and Microsoft Windows ecosystems.
  • Follow product management best practices with robust design & implementation decisions, to facilitate and drive a growth mindset.
  • Be accountable for the effective execution of significant operational budget to deliver services at high quality and global reach.
  • Architecture for Linux and Windows image deployment and consumption (Red Hat, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu Linux, Windows Server).
  • Drive and manage the implementation of; configuration, monitoring and telemetry, and log management etc., leveraging tools such as:
  • Patching and Configuration Management with Red Hat Satellite, Systems Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and Azure Arc.
  • Proactively engage with key business and technical stakeholders to anticipate upcoming demand.
  • Manage a 3rd party supplier with a globally distributed team of technical specialists, from a position of technical authority.
  • Deliver service levels which are optimised for the target need, whilst reducing cycle time & cost.
  • Work with the office of CISO to develop and lead best practices for security, risk management, compliance and controls standards.
  • Management of critical third-party relationships with external partners and suppliers (both large and small).
  • Cross functional planning and execution with peer technology functions to ensure business outcomes.
  • Service Assurance, ensuring performance and availability across Consumer Healths technology services.
Qualifications and Essential Skills
  • Minimum 12 years+ of experience in systems management/Infrastructure Engineering environment. 8 years+ in management in Enterprise Technology, Infrastructure, Hosting and shared technology services.
  • Minimum 10 years+ Linux Operating Systems experience (REHL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
  • Minimum 10 years+ Windows Operating Systems experience (Server 2019. 2022).
  • BS Technical Degree e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, or related discipline. MS Degree preferred.
  • Able to demonstrate technical breadth across Enterprise Technology portfolio.
  • An analytical mindset (essential).

  • Curiosity for learning and staying on top of the latest trends and value of technology.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering features in a truly agile environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
  • Experience managing multi-million (\xc2\xa3) operational and change budgets.
  • Experience with public cloud; design and implementation of Landing Zones, automation & security across IaaS and PaaS architypes.
  • Formal documentation.
  • Previous global function and experience in major Tech organization are preferred. Pharmaceutical or other regulated industry experiences is a plus.
  • Product road-mapping.
  • Proven Record for meeting regulatory and legislation requirements.
  • Strong 3rd party vendor management and Service Transition skills.
  • Willingness to travel if needed.
