Swisscontact was established in 1959 as an
independent foundation by notable figures from the
worlds of commerce and science in Switzerland. It is
exclusively involved in international development
co-operation and has carried out its own and
mandated projects since 1961. Based in Zurich,
Swisscontact currently employs over 1,400 staff
worldwide and manages 136 projects in 40 countries
on behalf of public and private donors.
Swisscontact's working principles include inclusive
systems development, learning culture, evidence-
based adaptive management, and engaging private
sector. In addition, the organisation's sustainability
criteria comprise of gender equality and social
inclusion, financial capability, environmental
responsibility, and good governance.
As an initiative to support Bangladesh in reaching the
target of ensuring quality healthcare services at rural
communities, Swisscontactis implementing the
ASTHA (Achieving Sustainability Towards Healthcare
Access) project. The project facilitates the
development and integration of Community
Paramedic services in rural Bangladesh. This project
is financed by Novartis International AG, Laguna
Foundation, Evi Diethelm-Winteler-Stiftung among
other donors. It is part of the Swisscontact
Development Programme, co-financed by the Swiss
Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the
Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
ASTHA is now in its Phase III and operates in 12
districts, namely, Bogura, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari,
Rangpur,Dinajpur and Gaibandha in the north,
Moulvibajar, Sunamganj and Sylhet in the north-
east, and Barguna, Barisal, and Patuakhali in the
south. Phase III started in January 2023 and will
continue till December 2026.

Employment start: As soon as possible.
Contract duration: 1 year initially; the contract may be
extended based on performance.
Place of work: Dhaka, Bangladesh with regular visits to
field locations
Reporting Structure: The incumbent will report to
the Senior Manager- Intervention Portfolio.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Overall Responsibilities
• Support the team in scoping partnerships with
relevant public, private and academia service
providers, e.g., new training institutes, e-health
platforms, pharmaceutical companies, for enhancing
knowledge, skills and business opportunities of
Community Paramedics.
• Develop Concept Notes, Terms of References (ToRs),
Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), and other
necessary documents required for contracting
consultants, partners, vendors etc.
• Facilitate technology providers and other private
sector healthcare providers in preparing incentivised
business models to enhance CP service provision
(e.g., effective referrals to doctors, hospitals, etc.)
and Continuing Medical Education.
• Lead scale up of e-learning platform among
Community Paramedic Training Institutes
• Organise and coordinate meetings, seminars,
knowledge events, as and when required, to discuss
project's sustainable and scalable scopes, business
models, leverages, etc.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor program
implementation, follow-up with employed graduates
and meet partners /associates /beneficiaries /
stakeholders.
• Check and verify bills/invoices that comes from field
offices and partners.
• Conduct any other task mutually agreed with the
supervisor.
Communication and Reporting
• Assist communication team to develop and/or edit,
update communication materials (case
studies/success stories on beneficiaries) for internal
and external distribution, and broadcasting
partnerships-related news.
• Assist the team in writing reports and proposals on a
regular basis.
Skills and experience
Core
• Ability to work productively in highly collaborative
settings while also able to function independently;
• Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and to
prioritize multiple tasks.
• Proficiency in written and oral communication both in
Bangla and English.
• Understanding of e-learning platform and blended
learning approaches
• Ability to communicate clearly with project
beneficiaries and other target groups.
• Trustworthiness, integrity and respect towards
Swisscontact' s core values.
• Awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity
(including sensitivity towards differently able people);
• Curiosity to learn and acquire knowledge from vastly
different sources.
Technical
• Graduate in Business/Economics/Development
Studies/Statistics/IT or other relevant disciplines of
Social Science.
• At least one year of relevant professional experience
in National and/or international development
organisations/projects/programmes and familiar
with partnership management.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
applications.
Physical Demands
Field visits play a large part in the incumbent's activities;
as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and
able to take part in such activities as and when needed
and sometimes within short notice.
Working Conditions and Environment
This will be applicable according to the Swisscontact Staff
Manual.
