Job Description


Role ProfileWe are looking for dynamic and forward-looking Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) engineer to join our database cloud engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our OCI environment, including the setup, configuration, and management of OCI resources, as well as the administration of our Oracle databases and coordinating OCI support. The Candidate must have Oracle Database Administration experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or DBA on large production environments. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of large-scale implementation of Oracle database. Engineers with good Oracle Application DBA experience will be added advantage to the role with experience in Oracle Cloud Fusion, E-biz suite, Oracle Fusion Apps.Responsibility includes development and implementation of critical test cases with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Partner with development teams and work towards addressing and fixing production issues on cloud, defining and implementing product enhancements. Collaborate with various cloud operations teams to understand the production issues and work towards to create a reproducible test case in the lab environment to present to the development team.BackgroundLSEG have embarked on a Finance Transformation programme, to deliver our Finance Vision and transform the way we work to create value and deliver sustainable growth for the business. The Programme is driving efficiencies and maximising benefits for LSEG by moving to a single cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning and Performance Management (Oracle Fusion/EPM/EDM).As an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Manage and maintain the OCI environment, including compute instances, storage, and network resources.
  • Administer Oracle databases, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, data security, and database upgrades and patches.
  • Implement and manage OCI Identity and Access Management (IAM), including users, groups, compartments, and policies.
  • Monitor the OCI environment and databases for performance and availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the OCI environment and databases.
  • Collaborate with Internal & External required teams to ensure optimal performance and availability of applications and services.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies and procedures.
  • Document OCI and database configurations and procedures.
  • Oversee multiple database instances for products on the cloud, Ensure support and management of databases in lower and production environments as per SLA
  • Support new product development and deployment by provisioning and managing new instances to accommodate growth.
  • Develop and Maintain Test Specs/Plans/Methodologies and then Design and Implement End-to-End Test Suites/Frameworks simulating Real-world production systems.
  • Extensive upgrade and Patching testing while simulating production like load scenarios.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Hands on Knowledge on OCI GEN II & Cloud at Customer (GEN I, GEN II) or similar IaaS Admin experience
  • Extensive experience of Oracle Cloud and EBS R12 /RMB Architecture
  • Should be an expert in routine DBA activities like taking backups, creating new instances, moving / restoring instances from one cloud platform into another, Import/Export, health checks, patching etc.
  • Expertise in managing and working with Oracle support , consulting teams and should have a through understanding of the process that is involved dealing with Oracle in the form of SRs.
  • Team player, able to work with different levels in the organization across multiple time zones.
  • Naturally inquisitive, able to think creatively and offer solutions or alternative viewpoints.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Oracle Apps, RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Oracle Cluster ware, OEM
  • Ability to convert functional business requirements into technical solutions.
Experience
  • 10-14 years of Oracle apps database administration experience on large production environments Experience working within an Agile framework.
  • Experience working within a Finance Technology function, preferably with large Financial Services Organisation.
  • GoldenGate setup, administration and tuning.
  • Strong Linux/UNIX OS understanding including OS Architecture & Internals (Networking, File Systems, Process/Memory Monitoring/Tuning/Linux Virtualisation etc).
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
